Right now, I'm feeling:

2003-08-10 - 11:32 a.m. In today's Straits Times , was a short article on Margaret Thatcher. It's interesting how media can portray icons to live on as if time has stood still, living on, etched in our minds only accounts of the 'glorious days' but not take into account the fact that even great icons age, that time does not stand still for them.. How often is it that the general public is reminded of the nows and current happenings of famous or infamouse people? More often than not, they are usually spoken of periods in their hay days, more of what they did or didn't do. It becomes a vicious cycle perhaps causing the icons themselves to not be able to forget their former selves and move on gracefully.. to age gracefully so to speak, to accept the way things are *now* rather then "when it was". And I suppose at the end of reading the article, I also sensed fear. Fear for myself that one day, I too would be living a lonely life, a life without a husband to age with, a life of utter dependence on aides and pity handouts. Isn't that just a scary thought?
