It's been a pretty strange morning... not the weird strange but the surreal sorta strange. A colleague's youngest brother passed away in a car crash over the Labour Day holidays. A fairly young chap (27 maybe, and a very successful one from the sounds of things) I recently met the deceased wife who came in for an interview not too long ago. I just find it strange how people are separated by what is known as "the six degrees of separation". Strange how life intertwines and links with one another.. I didn't know him personally, but I feel the loss for both my colleague and his wife. The envelope went around the office and I got irked by the 1st "auntie" I approach. Her 15-seconds non-stop questioning execution: "Huh?" "Who? Who died?" "But so-and-so's not in the office today!" "Who died? When? How?" "Oh! I didn't know her brother died!" Well, DUH! That's the reason why she's not in the office today and that's also the reason why the envelop is going around in the 1st place! And it was a laugh how she went around the office trying to be discrete but at the same time trying to squeeze all the details out of the managers. Since when did tact belong in to the *optional* package?
