What is it with the obsession of beauty? Where beauty is equivalent to flawless, smooth, porcelain like complexion? Where beauty is being as white as you can get? A pretty girl, barely 12 was overheard asking a beautician to "make her skin white and to get rid of all blackheads". She didn't know the difference between a make over and a facial -- it all seemed the same to her. She did not know the term "blackheads". So I sat there, puzzled, shouldn't girls at that age be pre-occupied with things other than blackheads and being the "fair-beauty"? At 12, apart from struggling to complete my homework and preparing for the exams, I was busy running around the housing estate like of the boys, cycling and playing hide and seek in drains. Times have indeed changed!
